Tata Altroz Automatic Confirmed – New Teaser Released

It is no secret that Tata Motors is working on the automatic version of the Altroz, which has been spotted testing numerous times. The company has officially released the first teaser video of the Altroz Automatic. It will come with DCT or dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

The Tata Altroz will be the brand’s first and the segment-first model to feature dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The petrol version is expected to be offered with automatic gearbox, while the diesel Altroz will continue to come with manual gearbox option. The DCT is likely to be offered on the iturbo version of the Altroz hatchback.

The Tata Altroz iTurbo is powered by a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that is capable of producing 108bhp and 140Nm of torque. It is paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Tata Altroz AT will rival the likes of the Hyundai i20 Turbo AT, Volkswagen Polo and the soon-to-be-launched updated Maruti Baleno CVT.

The Altroz is also available with a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol and a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine. While the former is good for 86PS and 113Nm of torque, the later produces 90PS and 200Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual gearbox driving the power to the front wheels come as standard.

Previous reports suggest that Tata Motors could source a 7-speed DT-1 dual-clutch transmission from Punch Powertrain. This gearbox is designed for the compact vehicles with torque up to 200Nm. It is relatively more affordable than the conventional dual-clutch or torque convertor units. The new gearbox is also likely to be offered on the Nexon compact SUV.

The Altroz automatic will be around Rs 1 lakh expensive than the regular manual version. The hatchback is currently available in the price bracket of Rs 5.99 lakh to Rs 9.69 lakh, while the iTurbo version is priced between Rs 8.1 lakh and Rs 9.4 lakh.
