Skoda’s Big EV Plans – 2 SUVs, MPV, Wagon & More

Skoda has announced that it will introduce six new all-electric vehicles (EVs) by 2026. The plan outlines four new e-vehicles (two SUVs, an MPV and a Wagon) and two updated Enyaq iV models. The carmaker aims to tap the affordable global small EV market by 2025 with an investment of €25,000 (around Rs 22.5 lakh).

Kalus Zellmer, Skoda Chairman, said that “Skoda Auto is moving even faster towards sustainable, electric, individual mobility. Together with our new and highly efficient conventional and hybrid-powered models, we are offering the best of both worlds – meeting our existing and new customers’ needs around the globe in this time of transition.”

Skdoa Small EV

The company has showcased clay models of the four upcoming Skoda electric cars including a small BEV (4.1 metres in length), a compact SUV, a Combi Wagon (based on the Octavia) and an MPV (measuring around 4.9 metres in length). The new Skoda small electric SUV will be called Elroq that will come as an electric replacement of the Karoq in global markets.

Talking about the Skoda Elroq, the small electric car will be based on the born EV architecture and take on the Jeep Avenger, Ford Explorer EV and Mini Aceman. It will be the first Skoda model to feature the brand’s new rugged ‘Modern Solid’ design language.  The styling theme includes a rugged front fascia – called Tech Deck, pronounced, squared-off wheel arches and large skidplates at the front and rear.

The Skoda Elroq might share its powertrain with the Skoda Enyoq. That means, there could be a 77kWh battery pack offering a range around 480km on a single charge. Skoda’s new 86kWh battery might also be offered on the small electric SUV. The Elroq’s most powerful version might have a dual-motor arrangement and offer power worth around 300bhp. It could be named Skoda Elroq vRS.
