Czech automaker, Skoda is aiming to launch a new range of models to sustain the strong growth momentum in the Indian market. If reports are to be believed, the company is planning to launch at least three to five new products in the coming 12 months. Adding to it, Skoda is developing an all-new compact SUV slated to be launched by 2025.
Before introducing the new compact SUV, Skoda is preparing to launch its globally popular Enyaq EV, new Superb sedan and the limited edition Octavia RS iV. These models are most likely to be offered as CBU or CKD units. With Enyaq iV, Skoda aims to enter the electric segment of the country. In fact, the company has already imported the vehicle for testing purposes. It is expected to be launched sometime in early 2023.
Skoda is expected to launch the top-spec Enyaq iV 80X, which comes with a 77kWh battery pack that supports up to 125kW DC fast charging. It comes with dual motors, one on each axle, giving AWD (All-Wheel-Drive) setup and a total power worth 265bhp. It is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph in just 6.9 seconds. The model has a WLTP rated range of up to 513km, which could make it the longest-range EV in its segment.
The Skoda Enyaq iV electric SUV comes equipped with 19-inch Proteus alloy wheels, a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument console, ambient lighting, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and upholstery that has a mix of leather and microfibre fabric. Skoda could also offer the lower-spec, two-wheel drive model to offer the electric SUV at a lower starting price.
The Skoda Enyaq iV is based on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB born electric platform that underpins the Volkswagen ID4 and the Audi Q4 e-tron crossovers. The platform is compatible with single-motor, RWD and dual-motor AWD setup, both are available with the Enyaq iV. In terms of proportions, the Skoda Enyaq iV electric is 4,648mm long, 1879mm wide and 1,616mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,765mm.
