Czech automaker, Skoda has officially started taking pre-bookings for the upcoming Rapid automatic variant. Interested buyers can pre-book the new Skoda Rapid automatic through authorised dealerships or online by paying a token amount of Rs 25,000. The company has announced that the deliveries of the new Rapid AT will commence on September 18, 2020.
The Skoda Rapid automatic will be powered by the same 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that also powers the VW Polo and the VW Vento. This engine churns out a maximum power output of 109bhp and a peak torque of 175Nm. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. It is claimed to return an ARAI certified fuel economy of 16.24kmpl.
Commenting on the Rapid AT, Brand Director, Skoda Auto India, said, “Skoda Auto India recently introduced the new Rapid TSI range of products that now boasts state of the art 1.0 Turbocharged Stratified Injection engine offering the best of both worlds: exceptional power output and excellent fuel economy. An overwhelming response from brand loyalists and auto enthusiasts from across the nation has obligated the Czech marque to push the yardstick further and introduce the convenience of an AT transmission across the Rapid TSI range, at a very competitive price point.”
The company had launched the 2020 Rapid sedan with 1.0L petrol engine in manual version only. Not just new mechanics, the sedan also received subtle changes such as new trunk spoiler, LED DRLs and Clubber alloy wheels. The new model gets an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, automatic AC, cruise control and others.
