The Skoda Kushaq mid-sized SUV will be launched in the Indian market in the mid-2021. The company has officially announced to start taking pre-orders for the Kushaq in June with deliveries promised in July 2021. The company has revealed the mid-sized SUV at an event in Mumbai, our colleague Vikas Yogi was present at the unveiling to bring the live updates.

Skoda claims to have achieved close to 95% localisation levels with the new Kushaq. Estimated to be priced around Rs 9.5 lakh to Rs 15 lakh, the Skoda Kushaq will be positioned against the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and the Nissan Kicks. It will be the first model to be based on the MQB AO IN platform, which will also underpin the VW Taigun. A total of 4 new cars will be based on this platform.
The Skoda Kushaq will be offered in 3 variants – Active, Ambition and Style. The SUV will come with 2 engine options – a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol with 6MT & 6AT, and a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol with 6MT & 7-speed DSG. While the former is good for 115PS and 175Nm of torque, the 1.5L petrol engine produces 150PS and 250Nm of torque.
In terms of proportions, the Skoda Kushaq is 4,221mm long, 1,760mm wide and 1,612mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2651mm. The SUV offers a boot space of 385-litres, which can be extended by folding the second row of seats. The entry-level variant will be fitted with 16-inch steel wheels with Lhotse full wheel covers, while the Ambition trim gets 16-inch alloys. The top-spec Style variant will get the 17-inch Atlas two-tone alloy wheels.
