The much-awaited Skoda Kushaq will make global debut in India on March 18, 2021. The SUV is scheduled to be launched in the second quarter of 2021, which is between April to June. Skoda has now released the interior sketches of the new Kushaq, which looks premium and feature-loaded.
For people not in the know, the Skoda Kushaq was first previewed as the Vision IN Concept at the 2020 Auto Expo. This will be the first product under the Volkswagen Group’s new India 2.0 Project, which includes local development of engines, platforms and products. Skoda has already revealed the exterior design sketches of the Kushaq, which suggests that the production version model will retain the Concept’s styling.
The Skoda Kushaq interior sketches reveal the premium dual-tone white and black colour scheme with contrasting orange highlights. The layered dashboard has orange highlight that runs across the width. The Orange highlight is also visible around the door handles and even on the lower central console, around the gearbox and switchgear.
Also visible is a digital display for automatic climate control, which is placed below the central air-conditioning vents. Silver touches can be seen on the door handles, steering wheel and on AC vents. The SUV gets a large TFT instrument console, which also has orange colour highlights. Other visible additions are multi-functional steering wheel, angular-shaped glovebox, a 6-speed manual gearbox, leather-seats, bottle and cup holders and a large armrest.
The Skoda Kushaq also gets a large touchscreen infotainment system, which is expected to measure around 10-inch in size. The infotainment system will be compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay along with inbuilt navigation. The SUV will also get connected car technology. The Kushaq will also get features like sunroof, wireless charging system, rear AC vents, ventilated front seats, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, and alloy wheels.
It will mark the debut of locally developed MQB AO IN platform, which will also underpin a new mid-sized sedan. This platform will also underpin the Volkswagen Taigun mid-sized SUV and the Virtus sedan for India. It will measure around 4.25 meters in length and will ride on segment-largest 2,651mm of wheelbase. The SUV will offer segment-leading cabin space and boot space.
The new Skoda Kushaq will come with 2 engine options – a 110bhp, 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol and a 147bhp, 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed torque convertor automatic (1.0L) and a 7-speed DSG (1.5L Only).
