Royal Enfield Preparing Himalayan 450cc To Rival KTM 390 ADV

It was reported that Royal Enfield is working on a new and more powerful Himalayan 650. A new media report claims that RE is developing a new and more powerful 450cc adventure motorcycle. The company has developed a new platform, codenamed K1 for its future ADV.

The first bike on this platform will be an all-new adventure motorcycle, which will be called the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. The ADV will rival the KTM 390 Adventure. It will be powered by a new 450cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor that is likely to produce around 45bhp of power. RE is working on giving strong low and mid-range, which is required for an Adventure motorcycles.

The new Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 will be based on new design language, but will have some design inspiration from the Himalayan 411. The frame used to connect the fuel tank to the headlamp unit shares styling cues from the original Himalayan. The picture shows that the spoke wheels are identical to the oil-cooled Himalayan.

The report claims that the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 will ride on 21-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels. It will retain the classic round-shaped headlamp unit that is similar to the existing model. The motorcycle will have spoked wheels with tubeless tyres. The new Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 will be based on a trellis frame. It is likely to be significantly lighter than the current model. The motorcycle will be positioned as a hardcore middleweight Adventure. It will have upside-down front forks, and will ride on a longer wheelbase.

The new bike will offer comfortable ride, thanks to center-set pegs, long single-seat and flat handlebar. The new motorcycle will be launched after the introduction of the Super Meteor and the Shotgun. It is expected that the new Himalayan 450 will be launched in the Indian market in the first quarter of 2023. The new motorcycle will be positioned between the 410cc oil-cooled and 650cc parallel-twin motors. It is likely to be priced around Rs 2.7 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), which is closer to the Interceptor 650.
