Royal Enfield has been testing the upcoming Himalayan 450cc bike for a long time in the country. Its official launch timeline hasn’t been revealed yet. Though, it’s expected to hit roads sometime this year. A latest spy video gives us a glimpse of the bike, but more importantly we get to hear its exhaust note. It sounds exactly similar to the RE’s signature thump. The video reveals what the new Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 sounds like while starting up, and revving up. The spotted model appears to be near-to-production version.
Spy Video – Exhaust Note
Design and styling of the RE Himalayan 450 isn’t completely different from the existing Himalayan. While the front fender appears beaky, the fuel tank is bigger and curvier than the current model. It carries a LED headlamp with steel tubes surroundings as we have seen on the newly-launched Super Meteor 650. You can notice a small luggage rack at the back. The bike also features circular rear view mirrors, compact windscreen, sleek turn signals and stubby exhaust. Read – Royal Enfield Electric Bikes To Be Built On All-New L-Platform
For power, the upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 will use new liquid-cooled engine with a four valve setup. Its power output is likely to be around 35bhp and torque nearly 40bhp. Transmission duties are expected to be performed by a 6-speed gearbox. The spotted model has Showa USD front forks at the front and monoshock suspension at the rear. Braking system will include front and rear disc brakes along with the dual-channel switchable ABS (anti-lock braking system).
Interestingly, the Himalayan 450 will be the first Royal Enfield bike to get the fully digital display. The unit is likely to support Bluetooth. Similar to the current Himalayan, the test mule was assembled with the 21/17-inch front and rear wire-spoke wheels. The bike might come with the tubeless tyres.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 prices will surely be higher than the existing Himalayan that costs between Rs 2.16 lakh – Rs 2.23 lakh (ex-showroom).
