MG Motor India registered total sales of 3241 units in September 2021 as opposed to 2,537 units of the same month last year. The automaker recorded 28 per cent sales growth despite the ongoing chip shortage that significantly hampered the production capacity. The MG ZS EV continued to witness high demand and gathered over 600 bookings in the third consequent month. Rakesh Sidana, Director-Sales, MG Motor India, revealed that the company’s production has reduced by almost one-third due to shortage of semiconductors. Though, MG Motor India received high bookings last month.
The British carmaker aims to further boost its sales with the launch of all-new MG Astor mid-size SUV that’s slated to arrive on 7th October 2021. It will be positioned against the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq and the newly-launched Volkswagen Taigun. The new MG SUV is bring offered with three engine and gearbox combinations including 1.5L, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol with 5-speed manual gearbox, 1.5L NA petrol with a CVT automatic transmission and 1.3L, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol with a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox sourced from Aisin.
The MG Astor has dual-tone Sangria Red and Black interior theme with soft-touch materials on the dashboard and door pads. It can also be had with all-black and Ivory and Black interior colour combinations. A personal AI (artificial intelligence) assistant robot has been position at the centre of the dashboard. The system takes voice commands in Hinglish. Just below it, there is a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system powered by MG’s iSmart Hub.
The SUV has a fully digital instrument cluster and steering with mounted controls and three modes – Urban, Normal and Dynamic. The MG Astor is the first vehicle in segment to offer Level 2 ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) that offers features such as lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, speed assist system and more. The SUV also offers 6 airbags ,Isofix child seat mounts, all four disc brakes and more.
