The much-awaited new Hyundai Tucson SUV will finally go on sale in the Indian market on August 10, 2022. Interested buyers can book the new Tucson online or at authorised Hyundai’s signature dealership by paying a token amount of Rs 50,000. The new model has received positive response for the car buyers, as the SUV has received over 3,000 bookings in 15 days.
The new Hyundai Tucson will be sold exclusively through Hyundai’s Signature outlets, where the Alcazar Signature and the performance-oriented i20 N Line are also sold. The new model will be offered in two trim levels – Platinum and Signature. Set to be brand’s flagship model, the new Tucson will rival the Citroen C5 Aircross, Jeep Compass and the VW Tiguan.
The new Hyundai Tucson will come with two engine options – a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol and a 2.0-litre VGT turbo-diesel. While the former is good for 156PS at 6,200rpm and a peak torque of 192Nm at 4,500rpm, the oil burner is good for 186PS at 4,000rpm and 416Nm at 2,000-2,750rpm. Transmission options include a 6-speed torque convertor automatic with petrol and an 8-speed automatic with diesel. The diesel version also comes with HTRAC all-wheel drive (AWD) system along with Multi Terrain Modes – Snow, Mud and Sand.
In terms of proportions, the new Hyundai Tucson is 4,630mm long, 1,865mm wide and 1,665mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,755mm. Compared to the previous model, the new-gen Tucson is 150mm longer, 15mm wider and 5mm taller and has 85mm longer wheelbase. The SUV comes with 45 active and safety features including 6 airbags, front & rear parking sensors, ESC, hill descent control, HAC, all-disc brakes & blind-spot view monitor.
The SUV has Home-To-Car function with Alexa & Google Voice Assistant in Hindi & English language. It gets remote engine start with smart key, multi air mode, bose premium sound 8-speaker system, door pocket lighting & passenger seat walk-in device. The 2022 Hyundai Tucson gets ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistant System) with 16 features. The features include forward collision warning & avoidance, lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, blind spot assist, smart cruise control, etc.
