Old Honda City To Come In 2 Petrol-Manual Variants

For the first time ever, Honda is selling both the previous and new generation Honda City sedans in India. The fifth generation Honda City has recently been launched with petrol and diesel fuel options. We informed you earlier that the fourth-gen City will only be offered in petrol version. A new media report claims that Honda is ready to make more changes to the old model variant line-up for the Indian market.

The new Honda City is available with the BS6-compliant 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine that produces 99bhp and 200Nm of torque. This is the same unit that powers the all-new City, the Amaze and the WR-V. While the fifth-gen sedan gets the new 1.5L DOHC, i-VTEC petrol engine, the fourth-gen City will continue to offer the BS6-compliant 1.5L SOHC engine producing 119bhp and 145Nm.

Honda will discontinue the CVT-equipped versions of the old City petrol version. It will only come with 5-speed manual gearbox option. Buyers planning to own a City sedan with automatic gearbox will have to opt for the fifth-gen model. The new Honda City CVT is priced at Rs 12.20 lakh for base model and Rs 14.45 lakh for the top-end variant.

The BS6-compliant fourth-gen City was available in 4 variants – SV, V, VX and ZX – priced between Rs 9.91 lakh and Rs 14.31 lakh. The company will discontinue the top-spec VX and ZX variants. The older model will come in two variants – SV and V – priced at Rs 9.91 lakh and Rs 10.66 lakh respectively. The new-gen City is available at a price tag of Rs 10.90 lakh for base V petrol manual variant, which is 24,000 higher than the fourth-gen City V variant.
