Okinawa Electric Scooters Get Cheaper By Upto Rs 17,900

Okinawa Autotech has reduced the prices of its entire electric scooter range after the recent amendments in FAME II policy. The company has announced that it is extending full subsidy benefits of 15000 / KWH to its customers. Based on Models, the price has been slashed from 7,200 to 17,800 with effect from 11 June 2021.

Okinawa is currently selling 3 electric scooters – iPraise+, Praise Pro and Ridge+. The iPraise+ price has been reduced by 17,892, and is now available at Rs 99,708. The Praise Pro gets cheaper by Rs 7,947 and is now priced at Rs 84,795. The brand’s most affordable scooter – Ridge+ is now priced at Rs 61,791, which is 7,209 cheaper.

The iPraise+ is one of the top selling products by Okinawa Autotech is claimed to have received 3-fold increase in demand in the last few months. The smart electric scooter comes with an IOT-enabled Mobile application – ‘Okinawa Eco App’. The app allows the user to track the usage, get directions and add a few emergency contacts to the app. The scooter comes with an evolutionary detachable lithium-ion battery with a range of 160-180 km/charge and charging time of 2-3 hours. It is claimed to be 30-40% lighter than other EVs in its segment.

Lowering the prices of electric scooters in the country will serve as a stepping stone and help persuade more riders to switch from a combustion-engine model to an electric one. Okinawa has sold over 90K scooters till May 2021. The company is investing INR 150 crore to set up a new manufacturing facility in Rajasthan. All Okinawa scooters are powered by detachable lithium-ion batteries; the user can take out the battery and charge using any normal plug point. The battery can be charged up to 80% in 1 hour, and 100% in 2 to 3 hours.
