Nissan has finally introduced the Magnite sub-4 meter SUV in the Indian market. Priced between Rs 4.99 lakh and Rs 9.35 lakh, the new Nissan Magnite is the most affordable sub-4 meter SUV in the country. At this price point, the compact SUV could impact the sales of segment-leaders as well as several B-segment hatchbacks including the Maruti Baleno, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Tata Altroz and others.

Nissan Magnite’s direct rivals are Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV300 and others. All these SUVs are available at a price tag of over Rs 6.5 lakh. Magnite Design Review

– The Magnite 1.0L NA with MT version is available in the price bracket of Rs 4.99 lakh and Rs 7.55 lakh. On the other hand, the Magnite Turbo MT version is priced between Rs 6.99 lakh and Rs 8.45 lakh. The Magnite CVT version is available at a starting price of Rs 7.89 lakh, which goes up to Rs 9.35 lakh for the top-spec variant.

– The Maruti Baleno is available with 2 petrol engine options – a 1.2L NA petrol & a 1.2L DualJet Petrol. The NA version is available in the price bracket of Rs 5.63 lakh and Rs 8.96 lakh, while the DualJet version is priced between Rs 7.33 lakh and Rs 7.89 lakh. The Baleno automatic version is available in the price range of Rs 7.76 lakh and Rs 8.96 lakh.

– The Tata Altroz is available in petrol manual version, which is priced between Rs 5.44 lakh and Rs 7.75 lakh. The company will introduce the turbocharged version of the hatchback in the near future.

– The Nissan Magnite is available with 2 petrol engine options – a 1.0L 3-cylinder naturally-aspirated and a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged. Paired to a 5-speed MT, the NA engine produces 71bhp and 96Nm of torque.

– The turbocharged engine offers two states of tunes – 99bhp/160Nm with 5-speed manual gearbox and a 99bhp/152Nm with a CVT automatic.

Maruti Baleno

– The Altroz is powered by a 1.2L 3-cylinder Revotron petrol engine that produces 85bhp and 113Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox.

– The Maruti Baleno is available with 2 petrol engines – a 1.2L 4-cylinder NA petrol and a 1.2L DualJet petrol with SHVS mild hybrid system. While the former is good for 82bhp and 113Nm of torque, the DualJet engine produces 89bhp and 113Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual gearbox is available as standard, while the NA engine also gets a CVT automatic.
