Nissan Magnite Records 33,000 Bookings; Base Model Price Up By 50,000

Nissan has received an overwhelming response for the new Magnite sub-4 meter SUV, as the bookings crossed 33,000 mark in just 1 month. The company has announced to ramp up production of the compact SUV to meet the demand. Adding to it, Nissan has increased the price of the base variant by 50,000 to Rs 5.49 lakh; however, the prices for the entire Magnite line-up remain unchanged.

Nissan claims to have received over 1.80 lakh enquiries for the Magnite in the past 1 month. The company is receiving over 1000 bookings per day. In order to meet the rising demand, Nissan will soon add a third shift at the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s Oragadam facility to increase production of the Magnite. By doing this, Nissan aims to keep waiting period of the Magnite around 2-3 months.

Nissan will also add over 1000 workers at the facility along with 500 new executives at dealerships. The dealership numbers have also gone up to 123, as Nissan has added 20 new dealerships in recent times. Adding to it, the Magnite will also be exported to select international markets including Indonesia, Nepal, Thailand and South Africa.

The made-in-India Nissan Magnite has received 4 stars in the ASEAN NCAP safety tests. The compact SUV will also be sent to Global NCAP for a crash test. It is based on the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s CMF-A modular platform, which also underpins the Renault Triber and the upcoming Renault Kiger.

The sub-compact SUV is available with two petrol engine options – a 1.0L naturally-aspirated petrol and a 1.0L turbocharged. While the former is good for 72bhp and 96Nm of torque, the turbocharged engine offers 99bhp and 160Nm of torque. The torque drops to 152Nm with CVT automatic transmission. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic with 1.0L turbo-petrol.
