Next-gen Skoda Fabia Rendered; Inspired By New VW Polo

We informed you earlier that Skoda is readying the next-gen Fabia hatchback, which is scheduled to be launched in the global markets in 2021. In fact, the company has started testing the new model with new Polo’s body-shell. A latest rendering from Digital Artist Kleber Silva shows the possible design of the next-gen Skoda Fabia.

It is clearly visible that the car in the rendering is the Volkswagen Polo, which is on sale in International markets. The designer has tweaked the front design and add more pronounced creases on the bonnet to give it a Skoda-family look. The front seems directly sourced from the new Skoda Rapid, which recently debuted in select markets.

It features the familiar Butterfly grille with chrome surround, LED headlamps with DRLs and sculpted bonnet. The lower bumper has wider air-dam in mesh pattern that runs across the width. The LED fog lamp unit is also placed right above the lower air-dam. In fact, the alloys in the rendering are lifted from the Skoda Rapid.

The next-gen Skoda Fabia will be based on the Volkswagen Group’s MQB AO modular platform, which also underpins the Volkswagen Polo, Nivus, Skoda Kamiq, Audi A1, SEAT Ibiza and others. The new model is likely to sourced the 3-cylinder petrol engines from the Polo and the T-Cross. It is expected to feature the 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine in naturally-aspirated and turbocharged versions. Transmission options are likely to include 5- and 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch.

The next-gen Skoda Fabia is also expected to receive mild-hybrid technology, which is available in the global-spec new Octavia. The hatchback will grow in size and is expected to be offer bigger cabin than its rivals. The new Fabia is not likely to arrive in our market anytime soon. Skoda will launch an all-new mid-sized SUV based on the VISION IN Concept and an all-new mid-sized sedan in India in 2021.
