Next-Gen Renault Duster 2024 Specs, 4WD, More Features – Launch Timeline

The Dacia Duster or Renault Duster has been one of the best-selling models for the French Group with more than 2 million sales since 2010. The SUV is currently in its second generation, which was launched in 2017 and received a mid-life facelift in 2021. Renault has already started working on the third-generation Duster that is expected to be introduced in 2024; however, it could be unveiled before the end of 2023.

The next-gen Renault Duster will continue to maintain the affordability, off-road credentials, rugged design and spacious cabin. This time around, Renault will add more technology, improved styling and better refinement.

Next-gen Renault Duster – Design Inspired By Bigster

Dacia Bigster Duster

The new Duster is most likely to share styling cues from the Bigster concept, which will also enter production in 2024-25. It could also share several body panels including the LED lighting, integrated alumium-style skid plates, pronounced fenders, etc. It will come with regular door handles and could lose some high-tech features of the fancier concept.

Not just styling, the Bigster & the new Duster could share the interior elements. The new model will come with a larger & free-standing touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument console and new switchgears. In order to achieve cost effectiveness, the new Duster will retain hard plastics on the dashboard, door panels and centre console.

It is reported that the next-gen Renault Duster will grow in size and will offer more space in the cabin. The current model is 4,341mm in length and the next-gen model could measure close to 4,500mm. This will help to create more space in the second row and bigger boot space.

New Duster Platform & Specs

The third-generation Duster will be based on the Groupe Renault’s new CMF-B architecture that also underpins the Sandero, Sandero Stepway, Logan and Jogger. The platform will be stretched to accommodate bigger Duster and even the larger Bigster SUV. This architecture is compatible with different body styles and engine options including petrol, hybrid, plug-in hybrid and battery electric vehicles. The new model is expected to be offered with an electrified powertrain.

The European-spec model could receive the plug-in hybrid powertrain that is offered on the Renault Captur E-Tech & the Nissan Juke Hybrid. This powertrain comprises of a naturally-aspirated 1.6-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine producing 93bhp & 148Nm, an electric motor producing 48bhp and 205Nm, and a second electric motor working as an High-Voltage Starter Generator, and a multi-mode gearbox sending power to the front wheels. The HEV has a 1.2kWh battery pack, while the PHEV gets a larger 9.8 kWh capacity.

The entry-level models are likely to come with petrol engine options with a mild hybrid tech to achieve higher efficiency. The new model could get the 1.2L turbo petrol with a 48V hybrid system that offers a combined power output of 130bhp. The company could also offer the 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine.

4WD (4-Wheel-Drive) Layout

While most of the B-SUVs are offered in front-wheel-drive layouts, the next-gen Duster will retain the 4WD option. The SUV will offer four-wheel-drive layout, high ground clearance and respectable approach & departure angles. The second-gen Duster has 214-217 ground clearance, a 30 degree approach angle, and a 33-34 degree departure angle.
