Next-Gen Honda CR-V Caught Testing For The First Time

Honda had introduced the current generation CR-V SUV in the end of 2016, and is already 4.5 years old. The company has started working on the next-gen Honda CR-V, which has been caught testing for the first time. The new model will be introduced in 2022 as 2023 model, and will receive significant changes in terms of cabin space, technology and powertrain options.

The spotted model was completely covered in thick cloth; however, the spy images reveal noticeable changes. The next-gen Honda CR-V will have more angular profile, inspired by the new SUV models including the HR-V. The front profile will come with longer, flatter hood along with a larger signature Honda grille. It features a slimmer headlamp unit, which follows the shape of the grille. The SUV could receive split headlamp set-up with LED DRLs on top and the main headlamp positioned slightly lower on the bumper.

The ORVMs are positioned on the doors instead on the column A. Also visible is a prominent crease just above the door handles that runs across the length and merges to taillights. The picture also reveals that the next-gen Honda HR-V will grow in size and will offer more space inside the cabin.

The rear profile is not visible, but it is likely to get vertically positioned headlamps. The SUV gets shark fin antenna and roof-integrated spoiler. The cabin will also receive all-new design and will feature tablet-type touchscreen infotainment system.

The current model is available with hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants, and the same is expected with the next-gen CR-V as well. Adding to it, the new model will also receive a pure electric version for the several global markets. The SUV is also expected to feature a 1.5-litre turbocharged VTEC engine with CVT gearbox.
