Next Big Launch From Toyota Will Be A Hyundai Creta Rival

Toyota Kirloskar Motor, the Indian arm of the Japanese carmaker, recently introduced the updated Glanza hatchback in the country. Prices of the new model start from Rs 6.39 lakh and go up to R 9.69 lakh (all, ex-showroom). After the new Toyota Glanza, the company will roll out a new mid-size SUV (codenamed – Toyota D22) to challenge the Hyundai Creta. In the mid-size SUV segment, it will also face challenge from cars like Kia Seltos, MG Astor, Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq.

The upcoming Toyota SUV will be built on the Daihatsu-sourced DNGA (Daihatsu New Global Architecture) modular platform. The architecture, which has been developed for the emerging markets, reduces vehicles’ weight and provides high rigidity body. The same platform will be used for the new Maruti Suzuki mid-size SUV (codenamed – Maruti YFG). Despite sharing the platform, both SUVs will carry different design language.
