New Tata Nexon.ev – Range, Specs, Variants, Features, Colours

The 2023 Tata Nexon EV facelift, now known as the Tata Nexon.ev under Tata’s new brand identity, has been unveiled for the Indian market. Bookings for the new model will begin on September 9, 2023, and its prices will be revealed on September 14, alongside the updated ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) Nexon. This facelift brings significant changes to the electric subcompact SUV. Let’s explore these changes in detail:

The new Tata Nexon EV features design elements inspired by Tata’s Curvv concept. The front gets a slatted grille design, a revised bumper, split headlamps, new LED lighting elements, and a full-width LED light band that displays the vehicle’s charging status. The alloy wheels have new aerodynamic inserts, and the rear section has been revised with a new boot lid and rear bumper.

Inside the cabin, the most noticeable change is the larger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system paired with a new 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. The Nexon EV also introduces touch-based HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) controls and an illuminated two-spoke steering wheel, similar to its updated ICE counterpart. It comes with a built-in dashcam, connected car technology, over-the-air (OTA) updates, wireless charging, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, an air purifier, sunroof, 360-degree camera, 9-speaker JBL sound system, ventilated front seats, and voice commands.

In terms of safety, the Nexon EV offers six airbags, a tire pressure monitoring system, electronic stability control, a blind-spot view monitor, front parking sensors, hill descent and ascent control, Isofix child seat anchors, and all-wheel disc brakes.

The Nexon EV model lineup consists of two variants, Medium Range (MR) and Long Range (LR), with three trims each: Creative, Fearless, and Empowered. Each trim offers different exterior color and interior upholstery options, and variants with optional packages have a ‘+’ suffix.

– MR variants come with a 30 kWh battery pack and offer a claimed range of 325 km.

– LR variants are equipped with a 40.5 kWh battery pack and provide a claimed range of 456 km.

– Both variants support a 7.2 kW AC charger, with a charging time of 4.3 hours for MR and 6 hours for LR. DC fast chargers are also available, reducing charging time to 56 minutes.

The Nexon EV is powered by a Gen-2 permanent magnet synchronous motor that’s lighter and more efficient, with power outputs of 129 bhp and 145 bhp for MR and LR variants, respectively. Tata claims the MR variant can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 150 km/h.

The comprehensive updates in the 2023 Tata Nexon EV are expected to come with a premium over the outgoing model. In the electric subcompact SUV segment, it will continue to compete with rivals like the Mahindra XUV400 EV, which is due for an update in early 2024.
