Suzuki Motorcycle is all set to launch an all-new motorcycle in the Indian market on 7th October 2020. The company has released a new teaser with a tagline “Introducing A Superior Way To Ride”. The company hasn’t released anything about the new product; however, the teaser has an imposed instrument console that is similar to the one offered in the Gixxer and the Intruder.
Similar to the Gixxer range with 155cc and 250cc engine options, Suzuki could introduce the Intruder motorcycle with the 250cc engine. In fact, the patent images of the Suzuki Intruder 250 have already been leaked online. The current Intruder is powered by the same 155cc engine that also powers the Gixxer 155cc. These two bikes also share several cycle parts including instrument console, braking system and even suspension mechanism.
The upcoming new Suzuki Intruder 250 will be powered by a 249cc, single-cylinder oil-cooled SOHC FI engine that also powers the Gixxer 250. Paired to a 6-speed gearbox, this engine produces 26.5PS at 9,300rpm and a peak torque of 22.2Nm at 7,300rpm. The current Intruder 150 features a 154.9cc engine producing 14.8PS and 14Nm of torque. In terms of proportions, the 250cc Intruder is expected to remain largely identical to the 150cc version.
Not just Suzuki, Honda 2 Wheelers India is also ready to enter into the cruiser motorcycle segment. The company will launch the Highness/H’ness cruiser bike on September 30, 2020. This segment is currently dominated by Royal Enfield motorcycle range, which includes Classic, Bullet and the Thunderbird. Classic Legends has also introduced Jawa motorcycle range to rival Royal Enfield bikes. Suzuki is most likely to launch the new Intruder 250 as a premium alternative to the Bajaj Avenger 220.
