New Skoda Superb Launching Soon – ADAS, 360° Camera, Variant

The Skoda Superb is making a comeback in India, this time with the fourth generation. The discontinuation of the third-generation Superb was a result of stricter BS6 Phase II emission standards enforced in April 2023. The new iteration will follow a different approach, arriving in India through the Completely Built Up (CBU) route, with limited numbers available.

Select units will fall under the government’s new import rule, allowing carmakers to import up to 2,500 units without undergoing the homologation procedure.

New Skoda Superb specs

Trim and Colors: The new Skoda Superb will be offered in a single, fully-loaded L&K trim and will be available in three color options: Water World Green, Rosso Brunello, and Magic Black.

ADAS and Other Features: Notably, it will be the first Skoda model in India to feature advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) technology. The suite is expected to include features such as adaptive cruise control (up to speeds of 210kmph), lane-keeping assist, park assist, and more. The sedan will also sport a 360-degree camera, a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, and new knobs with 1.26-inch displays, among other technological enhancements.

Safety and Size: The new Superb will come equipped with an active tyre pressure monitoring system, nine airbags, and Skoda’s adaptive chassis control technology as standard. In terms of dimensions, the sedan has grown compared to the previous generation, being 43mm longer and 12mm taller. Additionally, its boot space has increased by 20 liters. The sedan’s standard wheels will be Stratos’s 17-inch alloy wheels. Design highlights include signature L-shaped LED headlights, a lip spoiler, and C-shaped LED taillights at the rear.

Powertrain: Skoda has not yet revealed the powertrain options for the new Superb in India. However, it is likely to retain the same petrol and diesel engine options. A notable addition will be the mild hybrid powertrain, a first for the Superb. Globally, it will offer three petrol (1.5L turbo and 2.0L – 204bhp/25bhp) and two diesel (2.0L TDI – 193bhp/150bhp) engine options.
