MG Motors India today rolled out a new mid-spec trim of the Hector SUV model lineup. Called the MG Hector Shine, the new trim has been priced at Rs 14.52 lakh for the petrol variant and Rs 16.50 lakh for the diesel variant (all, ex-showroom). On the feature front, the new Shine variant offers some extra features over the Super trim including an electric sunroof, electric parking brake, telescopic steering, push button engine start/stop, smart entry and chrome door handle. It also comes with an exclusive accessory pack that includes an air purifier, leather seat covers, leather wrapped steering wheel, 3D floor mats, a wireless charger and window sunshades.
The list of features also includes a 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, chrome interior door handles, rear parking camera, cruise control, four speakers with two tweeters, LED rear fog lamps and LED taillamps.
As mentioned above, the new MG Hector Shine trim has been offered with both 1.5L turbo petrol and 2.0L diesel engine options. While the gasoline unit delivers a peak power of 143PS and 250Nm of torque, the oil burner pushes out a maximum power of 170PS and 350Nm of torque. A 6-speed manual gearbox is standard across the model lineup. The SUV’s turbo-petrol variants come with a CVT automatic transmission. One must note that the new MG Hector Shine isn’t available with the petrol-hybrid and DCT automatic gearbox.
After expanding the Hector and Gloster SUV model lineups, the British carmaker will bring in its Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos challenger – MG Astor. The SUV has been slated to hit roads in the third quarter of 2021. The Astor, which is essentially the petrol version of the ZS EV, will be made available with a 1.5L, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol (120bhp/150Nm) and a 1.3L turbocharged petrol (163bhp/230Nm) engine options.
