New Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai Cars To Launch In 2022 – 12 New Models

In order to remain at the top, India’s largest car manufacturers, Hyundai and Maruti Suzuki, are planning to launch a range of new cars in the next 1 year. Maruti Suzuki has recently launched the new generation Celerio hatchback, which is the brand’s first new model in past 2 years.

Similarly Hyundai is facing a stiff competition from the homegrown automaker, Tata Motors, which sold over 30000 cars with over 10 percent market share in October 2021. The company plans to launch multiple new models and facelifts of existing cars in India over the period of 1 year.

Korean automaker, Hyundai will launch 3 facelifts, two new models and an all-new electric crossover in the country in the next 1-2 years. The company will introduce the facelifted versions of the Creta and the Kona EV, which have already been revealed for the select global markets. Adding to it, the company is preparing the facelifted Venue compact SUV that has been spotted testing in South Korea.

Hyundai is also testing a new 7-seater MPV, which is rumoured to be called the Stargazer. The new MPV has been spotted in South Korea as well as in Indonesia. Reportedly to be manufactured at Hyundai’s Chennai facility, the new MPV will first go on sale in Indonesia.

The company is also testing the next generation Tucson SUV in India. Featuring new Sensuous Sportiness Design language, the new Tucson comes with bold exterior design. Some of the design highlights include new DRLs, new headlamps & new geometrically designed grille light up in 5 different jewel-like triangles of light on each side, and blade-line tail-lights, LED bar connecting the quad tail-lights, new lower bumper, a faux skid plate, a rear window wiper, etc.

2022 Hyundai Tucson India

The new Tucson comes with a dual-screen infotainment system that has a 10.3-inch display for climate control, air quality monitoring system, etc. It is powered by a 2.5-litre inline 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 190bhp of power and a peak torque of 260Nm. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

Hyundai will also bring the Ioniq 5 pure electric crossover via a CBU route. It is built on Hyundai’s dedicated BEV architecture called Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is offered with two battery sizes – 72.6kWh and 58kWh. Both comes with rear-wheel or all-wheel-drive layouts. The 72.6kWh battery version is claimed to offer a maximum range of around 470-480kms. It supports 800V battery technology, which gives ultra-rapid charging. The Ioniq 5 is compatible with up to 220kW DC charging, which allows the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes.

Maruti Suzuki is also facing a stiff competition, as the sales have seen a significant dip in the past 1 year. The company plans to launch several new cars over the period of next 12-15 months. It will launch next generations of existing cars along with few facelifts and an all-new model.

New 2022 Suzuki S-Cross Changes

Maruti Suzuki will launch the next generations of the Brezza and the Alto hatchback in the first half of 2022. Both models have been spotted testing multiple times on the Indian roads. The new Brezza will come with several high-end features like a factory-fitted sunroof, six airbags, cruise control, advanced connected car tech, new infotainment system and others.

The new-gen Alto will grow in size, and will be based on the lightweight HEARTECT platform. The new model will also receive some advanced features including a touchscreen infotainment system. It could also get a new 800cc petrol engine with high mileage.

Maruti Suzuki is also preparing the Baleno facelift, which has already been leaked online. The new model will come with significant updates, most prominent changes are made inside the cabin. The hatchback will get a new infotainment system along with several connected car tech. Not just Baleno, Maruti’s Ertiga and the XL6 MPVs will also receive a mid-life facelift in 2022.

5 door Jimny India

The 5-door version of the Jimny is also planned to be launched in India before the end of 2022. Rumoured to be launched by July 2022, the new LWB Jimny will sit below 4 meters in length and will rival the likes of the Mahindra Thar and the Force Gurkha. It is likely to be powered by a 1.5L K15B petrol engine producing 103bhp and 138Nm of torque.

The next generation Suzuki S-Cross has recently made its global debut in Europe. It is rumoured to be launched in other markets including India in 2022. The new S-Cross has received comprehensive design changes and feature upgrades.
