Mahindra Scorpio Classic, the heavily updated version of the SUV, recently received a new mid-spec S5 variant. However, its price is yet to be revealed. When compared to the entry-level S trim, the new mid-level variant gets body-coloured front and rear bumpers, side steps, body-coloured cladding with Scorpio badge on the doors, roof rails and 17-inch alloy wheels. The feature list includes dual-tone interior theme, tilt adjustable steering, vinyl upholstery, engine start-stop button, manually adjustable ORVMs, 2nd row AC vents, manual AC unit, reverse parking sensor, seatbelt reminder lamps, dual airbags, ABS with EBD and halogen headlamps, LED taillamps. The top-end S11 is being offered with some exclusive features such as a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, height adjustable driver seat, faux leather steering wheel, fabric upholstery, automatic climate control, phone mirroring, remote central locking cruise control, etc.
The SUV comes with 7-seats and 9-seats configurations. The 7-seater version has two seating layouts – 2+2+3 and 2+3+2 with captain’s seats in the middle row and a bench seat in the third row, and a bench seat in the second row and two single jump seats in the third row respectively. The 9-seater version has a 2+3+4 layout featuring double side facing jump seats in the third row.
For power, the new Mahindra Scorpio Classic S5 uses the same 2.2L diesel engine with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The motor pushes out a peak power of 132PS and 300Nm of torque.
As far as pricing is concerned, the new S5 trim is expected to cost around Rs 1 lakh premium than the base S variant. At present, the SUV model lineup is available in two trims – S and S11 – priced at Rs 13 lakh and Rs 16.81 lakh respectively (all, ex-showroom).
