American SUV maker, Jeep has officially announced to launch the 5th generation Grand Cherokee SUV in the Indian market in November 2022. The company has also released a teaser video revealing the design details and premium interior. It will be the 4th Jeep model to be locally produced at the company’s Ranjangaon facility near Pune.
The SUV has already been spotted testing multiple times on the Indian roads. Already on sale in global markets, the new Jeep Grand Cherokee is available in two sizes – the standard 5-seater and the 3-row Long wheelbase model. The company will launch the 5-seater variant of the SUV in the Indian market.
Jeep has confirmed that the new Grand Cherokee for India will come with a full suite of Advanced Driving Assistance System (ADAS), full connectivity package with 24×7 dedicated assistance and a host of premium features. The new Jeep Grand Cherokee 5-seater is around 294mm shorter than the Grand Cherokee L. It comes with active grille-shutters, air curtains and re-styled rear pillars, which should improve the aerodynamic efficiency. It comes with an all-new dashboard layout, featuring a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.1-inch digital instrument console. There is a dedicated 10.1-inch screen embedded in the dashboard for the front passenger. It also comes with a 10-inch head-up display, a wireless smartphone charging system, rear seat entertainment screens and smartphone connectivity.
The new Jeep Grand Cherokee is likely to be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox as standard. It will come with four wheel drive system with selectable terrain modes – Auto, Sport, Mud/Sand, and Snow. The new SUV will take on the likes of the Mercedes GLE, BMW X5 and Land Rover Discovery.
