The much-anticipated Toyota Innova Hycross is all set to be unveiled in the Indian market tomorrow. This new model has already been launched in Indonesia, where it is called the Innova Zenix. It is expected that Toyota could announce the opening of bookings for the new Hycross tomorrow. The carmaker might also announce its prices on the same day, while deliveries are likely to start in early 2023 in January.
Toyota Innova Hycross Details
The new Toyota Innova Hycross will be based on the TNGA-C modular platform instead of the ladder-frame chassis. It is the front-wheel-drive monocoque platform, while the outgoing Crysta is a rear-wheel-drive model. The new model will be branded as an SUV, which is also evident from its crossover-ish profile and SUV-like front design.
The front styling of the new Innova Hycross is inspired from the new Corolla Cross, featuring a larger hexagonal-shaped front grille and a wide, wraparound LED projector headlamps with chrome separators diving each unit. It comes with new set of daytime running lamps placed on the top with an ‘eyebrow’ shape. There is a triangular housing on the front bumper that houses horizontally positioned LED DRLs. The SUV comes with strong creases that runs across the length, and the big bonnet has strong lines. It has flared wheel arches with black plastic cladding, multi-spoke alloy wheels, big glasshouse area and wraparound LED tail-lights.
In terms of features, the new Innova Hycross gets a 10-inch free-standing touchscreen infotainment system, wireless connectivity, dual-tone leatherette seats, digital instrument console and a 3-spoke multi-functional steering wheel. The new model features a large dual-pane panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, front-seat mounted rear monitors, power tailgate, captain seats with ottoman function, electronic parking brake and a 360 degree camera.
Innova Hycross ADAS Tech
The new model comes with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, which is improved version of the outgoing TSS 2.5. The system has been improved by extending the detection range of the monocular camera and the millimetre-wave radar. It offers features like Automatic Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert, Automatic High Beam and Road Sign Assist.
New Hycross Specifications
The new crossover is offered with two engine options – a 2.0L 4-cylinder petrol and a 2.0L TNGA petrol with 5th gen Toyota Hybrid System. While the former is good for 174PS and 205Nm of torque paired to a CVT automatic gearbox, the latter offers a combined power of 186PS and 206Nm of torque. The petrol engine in the hybrid set-up offers 152PS at 6000rpm and 187Nm at 4400-5200rpm, while the electric motor offers power and torque worth 113PS and 206Nm. It is paired to an e-CVT transmission.
The new Innova petrol version is claimed to offer a fuel efficiency of 15kmpl, while the Innova Hybrid will return a fuel efficiency of 21kmpl.
