New Honda N7X Based 7-Seater SUV To Be Unveiled Tomorrow

Honda had presented the concept version of the N7X SUV in the month of May, 2021. The production-version of the SUV will make global debut tomorrow in Indonesia. The production-ready Honda N7X was scheduled for Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS); however, the event has been postponed to November due to COVID-19 pandemic.

The Honda N7X 7-seater SUV will be eligible to gain luxury tax break for cars under 1,500cc in the Indonesian market. It is reported that the new model could be called the next-gen Honda BR-V, and could replace the existing model. In Indonesia, the new model will rival the likes of the Toyota Avanza, Daihatsu Xenia and other 3-row mid-sized SUVs on sale in Indonesia.

The Honda N7X based 7-seater SUV will share the platform and the engine option with the new City sedan. It will be powered by the same 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine. This engine is capable of producing 121bhp of power and 145Nm of torque. Transmission options are likely to include a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic. In future, the SUV could also receive a hybrid powertrain.

The 3-row SUV is claimed to offer the best of SUV and MPV body styles, and will be suitable for all type of road conditions. It is reportedly to come in 4 trim levels – S, E, Prestige and Prestige HS – with entry-level trim to come in manual gearbox only. The higher trims will come with an optional CVT unit.

It offers features like Collision Mitigation Braking System, Road Departure Mitigation System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist System, Traffic sign recognition, Honda LaneWatch, Blind spot detection, auto high-beam headlights, etc.

Honda is yet to confirm whether this SUV will make its way to our market or not. However, the company has said that it is currently developing an India-focused SUV. This SUV is expected to arrive in our market by 2023. To be based on the City platform, the new SUV will measure around 4.3 meters in length. It will be positioned against the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, MG Astor, Skoda Kushaq and the VW Taigun.
