New Honda HR-V With Mugen Upgrades Look Aggressive

Honda has recently presented the new generation Honda HR-V (Vezel in Japan), which will soon be launched in select European and other markets. The company is also working on a different looking HR-V for the American markets. The SUV is yet to hit the Indian market, but media reports suggest that the hybrid version could arrive in 2022. However, Honda is yet to make an official announcement on the same.

Mugen Motorsports has announced a long list of aftermarket accessories to make the new HR-V looks more attractive. For people not in the know, Mugen Motorsports is an aftermarket engine tuner and components manufacturer. Mugen develops body kits and sports exhausts for Honda Cars. With Mugen accessories, the stock HR-V looks sportier.

In terms of styling, the new Honda HR-V gets Mugen sourced grille and headlamp attachments, side and rear lower body extensions, roof-integrated spoiler, tailgate spoiler, rear bumper decal and ORVM covers. The accessories will cost 596,200 yen (Approx Rs 4.13 lakh). For performance enhancement, Mugen is providing new air filter and a custom exhaust system. The exhaust system is derived from race cars.

The exhaust setup costs 126,500 yen (Approx INR 88,000). Mugen is also giving custom 18-inch alloys in dual-tone finish, which costs 50,600 yen (Approx INR 35,000). Adding to it, user can buy tunk mats and red floors. Mugen is also proving a custom paint job to customers, which gives the new HR-V a new dual-tone scheme. User can also add new front grille garnishes, spoiler extensions and side skirt garnishes.

The Honda HR-V is available with a hybrid powertrain, which comprises of a 1.5-litre iMMD (intelligent-Multi Mode Drive) petrol engine connected to a compact, powerful electric motor, a lithium-ion battery and a fixed-gear transmission. The hybrid system offers a total power output of 109PS. It is claimed to offer an excellent fuel efficiency of 26.7kmpl.

The Japanese-spec model also gets a 1.5-litre i-VTEC naturally-aspirated engine that churns out 121bhp of power and 145Nm of torque. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels via a CVT automatic unit.
