New Honda Compact SUV Rendered – Debut In August 2022

We reported earlier that Honda is likely to unveil the production version of the RS SUV Concept at the 2022 GIIAS (Gaikindo International Indonesia Auto Show) in August. The new Honda Compact SUV is reportedly to be called the next-gen Honda WR-V; however, Honda is yet to make an official announcement on the same.

Ahead of the official debut in August, a new set of renderings of the production version of the Honda RS SUV has hit the Internet. The rendering shows the brand’s new trapezoidal grille with HR-V RS Turbo-like motifs, flanked by LED headlights that appears bigger than the one offered in the concept. The new Honda Compact SUV has production-ready roof rails, and concept-like front bumper with fog lamps. The vehicle has also camera mounted on the top of the windshield, which suggests that the SUV could get Honda Sensing. It is basically the ADAS tech, which we have already seen on the new City hybrid.

The rear features simpler door design, which looks nice. It comes with new Civic-styled tail-lights (not connected like the new Honda HR-V). The SUV has straighter rear windshield, shark fin antenna and a completely redesigned rear bumper.

The new Honda RS SUV concept-based model is likely to source the interior with the new BR-V. This is also evident from the rendering. The BR-V-like dashboard comes with orange trims, which is similar to the Brio RS. It also has a touchscreen infotainment system with WR-V opening animation. The AC vents are placed above the touch unit, while the touch-type AC control unit is placed below the infotainment. It also gets semi-digital instrument console and a multi-functional steering wheel.

New Honda RS SUV Interior

The new Honda Compact SUV will measure close to 4.2 meters in length and will have a wheelbase similar to the new City sedan. Leaked info reveals that the new model will come in 5 variants – 1.5 E MT, 1.5 E CVT, 1.5 RS MT, 1.5 RS CVT and 1.5 RS CVT Z. The new model will be powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 121PS and 145Nm of torque. Transmission options are likely to include a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic.

Honda could also launch the hybrid version of the SUV, which will come with an Atkinson Cycle 1.5L, 4-cylinder engine coupled to two electric motor. The petrol engine produces 98bhp and 127Nm, while the electric motor offers 109bhp and 253Nm from 0 rpm. The combined usable power and torque stands at 126bhp and 253Nm. Similar to the City hybrid, the RS SUV hybrid could feature a single, fixed gear ratio and offers 3 drive modes – Petrol Only, Electric and Hybrid.
