New-Gen Renault Duster – Bigster Inspired Design, Hybrid Variant

The French carmaker is planning to give a generation change to Renault Duster (Dacia Duster) in the global market. It will be the third-generation model that’s reported to enter into production in 2024. Rumour has it that the new Duster will also make its way to India sometime in 2022 or 2023. The carmaker recently filed a design patent application for the third-generation Renault Duster in India.

With a generation change, the compact SUV is likely to take a big leap in terms of design, features and engine mechanism. In fact, its B0 architecture will be replaced with the CMF-B platform that’s claimed to be “adapted for different markets and customer expectations around the world”.

One must note that the CMF-B platform supports 48V mild hybrid system that’s currently offered on the new Sandero. The same hybrid powertrain could be offered on the new Renault Duster, thus making it comply with Euro 7 emission standards. While the lower variants might get the 48V mild hybrid technology, the higher trims could be offered with the modified version of the 140bhp, E-Tech hybrid system. There is no clarity whether the India-spec model will receive the hybrid powertrain or not. Currently, the compact SUV comes with a 156bhp, 1.3L turbocharged petrol engine and manual and automatic gearbox options.

The company is also working on the 7-seater version of the Renault Duster, which was recently caught on camera during its TVC shoot. Called the Renault Grand Duster, the SUV will be offered with 6 and 7-seats configurations. While the former will offer captain seats in the second row, the latter one come with the bench-type seats in the middle row. It can be had with an EDU automatic gearbox. The model lineup might also include an Eco-G variant featuring bi-fuel technology – called Autogas. The 2022 Renault Grand Duster will be available with FWD (front-wheel drive) and AWD (all-wheel drive) systems.
