The fourth-generation Maruti Suzuki Swift is set go on sale in India on 9th May 2024. While official bookings have not yet commenced, select Maruti Suzuki Arena dealerships have started accepting pre-orders at token sum of Rs 11,000. The hatchback will come with significantly improved styling, more features and all-new engine, which will be high on fuel efficiency. Compared to the Japan-spec version, the new 2024 Maruti Swift in India will have slight aesthetic differences.
Let’s first talk about the major change – the engine. The next-gen Swift will be offered with the all-new 1.2L, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated Z-Series petrol engine (codenamed: Z12) replacing the old K-Series, 4-cylinder motor. The new motor is relatively lightweight and meets the stringent BS6 emission standard and CAFÉ (Corporate Average Fuel Efficiency) Phase 2 standards.
The new Z-Series engine could also be had with the mild hybrid tech that will boost its fuel efficiency. Maruti Suzuki will use the same engine for the new-generation Dzire compact sedan, which is due for 2024 festive season.
The new 2024 Maruti Swift will be designed on the heavily modified Heartect platform and measure longer than the current generation. Its overall length, width and height will stand at 3860mm, 1695mm and 1500mm, respectively. This indicates that its width and height will be reduced by 40mm and 30mm, respectively. Its interior changes will be inspired by the Fronx compact crossover and Baleno hatchback featuring new dual-tone black/beige theme.
The new Swift will come with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, sourced from the Fronx. Features such as automatic AC, a flat bottom steering wheel, analogue dials with MID, push button start stop, seat height and rear heater duct and, reverse parking camera will also be on-board.
The new 2024 Maruti Swift with all aforementioned upgrades will surely get slightly expensive. Its current generation model comes within the price range of Rs 5.99 lakh – Rs 9.03 lakh (all, ex-showroom).
