MG SUVs Waiting Period Rises To 3 Months: Semi-Conductor Shortage?

MG Motor India has announced that the waiting period of its cars including the MG Hector, MG Hector Plus, ZS EV and the Gloster have gone up to 2 to 3 months. The company claims that increased demand is the reason behind the increase in waiting period; however, reports suggest that shortage of semi-conductors is one of the reasons behind the delay in production and rise in waiting period.

In a press release, MG said that the delivery timeline for existing bookings across all the variants is estimated to be around 2-3 months. Customers are advised to get in touch with dealerships to know  their estimated delivery timelines.

2021 MG ZS Electric

MG Motors entered India in 2019 with the Hector SUV, which has received an excellent response from car buyers. The company is currently selling the Hector, Hector Plus 6-and 7-seater SUV, full-size Gloster SUV and the ZS electric SUV. In fact, the company has recently introduced the updated versions of the Hector and the ZS EV.

MG Motors is also readying a new mid-sized SUV, which will be based on the ZS petrol, for the Indian market. Rumoured to be called the MG Astor, the new mid-sized SUV will rival the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and the Nissan Kicks. It is expected to be launched in the third quarter of 2021. The SUV will be offered with two petrol engines – a 120bhp, 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol and a 163bhp, 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol.
