MG Motor India had launched the Astor mid-sized SUV during the last year’s festive season – around Diwali. The company is currently facing production constraints due to COVID-19 pandemic & global shortage of semi-conductor chips. MG Motor is planning to increase its production to meet the rising demand for the Astor mid-sized SUV.
Moreover, the company plans to increase its electric vehicle portfolio by introducing an all-new model before the end of 2022-23 financial year. Adding to it, MG Motor India will give a major upgrade to its popular ZS EV in the next few months.
MG ZS EV Facelift
If reports are to be believed, MG Motor will introduce the updated ZS EV in the country in February. The new model will come with significant changes inside and out, and will be equipped with a bigger capacity battery. The new model is likely to get a new 51kWh battery that will offer a range around 480km. The current model has a 44.5kWh battery pack with a claimed range of 419km.
The new model will have new front fascia with new closed grille, updated lighting system and new bumper. Inside the cabin, the SUV could get a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument console, a wireless phone charger, Astor’s AI assistant and ADAS system.
New MG Compact Crossover EV
MG Motor India has officially announced to launch an electric vehicle before the end of FY 2022-23, that’s before March 2023. It will be priced between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 15 lakh, and will target masses. This all-electric crossover will be based on a global platform, which is customised for the Indian market.
It will be a sub-4 meter crossover and could offer an electric range of over 300kms. It will be positioned against the best-selling Tata Nexon EV. The company aims to localise some of the components for its new electric vehicle to meet the government’s guidelines of product linked incentive scheme.
