The much-anticipated MG Comet small electric car is scheduled to be launched in our market in the next couple of months. The small EV is likely to make its global debut at the end of April month. MG has already shared the exterior design and colour options for the pure electric model, and now released the first picture of its interior.
The 2-door mini EV comes with a futuristic cabin, which appears similar to the Wuling Air EV on sale in global markets. Despite being compact in design, the MG Comet EV promises to offer several comfort and convenience features to occupants. This 4-seater model gets a sleek dashboard layout with dual 10.25-inch screens. The cabin has a layered dashboard in dual-tone shade, sleek air-con vents, rotary knobs for AC controls, and a dual 10.25-inch screen.
The vehicle gets a multi-functional two-spoke steering wheel and a large single-piece screen that accommodates a 10.25-inch digital instrument console and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit.
The MG Comet EV is based on the brand’s new Global Small Electric Vehicles (GSEV) platform, which will underpin the brand’s future compact electric SUV. The small EV has a tall and boxy stance. The charging port is placed in the middle of the front fascia under the MG branding. It gets dual, vertically stacked headlamps, LED DRLs with integrated turn indicators, a dual-tone front bumper and large rear quarter glass. The small car will run on small 12-inch steel wheels with wheel covers.
The compact electric car comes fitted with a front-axle motor, which draws power from a 17.3 kWh battery pack. The electric motor is claimed to have an output of 40bhp. It is expected to offer a range of around 200-250km. The battery can be fully charged in 8.5 hours.
