MG Motor India has finally rolled out its new mid-size SUV – Astor – in the country. It’s India’s first vehicle to offer personal AI (artificial intelligence) assistant and first-in-segment Level 2 autonomous technology. The MG Astor SUV model lineup comes in a total of 9 variants spread across four trims – Style, Super, Smart and Sharp. It has been launched at a starting introductory price of Rs 9.78 lakh (for the entry-level variant) and it go up to Rs 16.78 lakh (for the top-end model).
The Astor is positioned in the highly competitive mid-size SUV segment that includes models like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun. We analyse of the MG Astor SUV’s prices to see where exactly it stands in the segment.

Compared to the Kia Seltos petrol that costs between Rs 9.95 lakh – Rs 16.75 lakh, MG’s new Astor SUV is more affordable. While the Astor’s automatic variants are available in the price range of Rs 12.68 lakh (VTi-Tech CVT) – Rs 16.78 lakh (220 Turbo AT), the Seltos petrol automatic can be had in the price range of Rs 14.75 lakh – Rs 17.79 lakh. The mid-size SUV segment leader – Hyundai Creta petrol is currently priced between Rs 10.16 lakh – Rs 14.13 lakh. Its automatic variants are available in the price range of Rs 15.61 lakh – Rs 17.87 lakh.
Prices of the newly-launched Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq are almost similar. While the former has been priced from Rs 10.49 lakh to Rs 17.49 lakh, the latter one costs Rs 10.49 lakh – Rs 17.59 lakh. The VW Taigun automatic can be had in the price range of Rs 14.09 lakh – Rs 17.49 lakh. The Kushaq model lineup includes three automatic variants – 1.0L Ambition, 1.0L Style and 1.5L Style DSG – which are available at Rs 14.19 lakh, Rs 15.79 lakh and Rs 17.59 lakh respectively. All aforementioned prices are ex-showroom.
