Maruti Suzuki & Toyota Sales Report December 2022

Automakers have released their sales numbers for the month of December 2022. Maruti Suzuki and Toyota have reported negative sales growth in the month of December 2022. India’s largest carmakers has reported a year-on-year as well as month-on-month sales decline. Similarly, Toyota recorded a year-on-year sales decline of 3.81 per cent and month-on-month sales decline of 11.42 percent.

Maruti Suzuki has sold 112,010 units in the month of December 2022 as against 123,016 units in the same month last year, reporting a year-on-year sales decline of 8.95 percent. In fact, the brand’s month-on-month sales declined by 15.40 percent. The company sold 132,395 units in November 2022.

The biggest drop comes from the Mini and compact segment. In the mini segment, Maruti Suzuki sold 9,765 units of the Alto & S-Presso in December 2022 as against 16,320 units in the same month last year. In the compact segment (Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, Toyota S and Wagon R), MSIL sold 57,502 units last month as against 69,345 units in December 2021.

However, the brand’s UV sales increased by over 6000 units. The combined sales for Brezza, Ertiga, S-Cross, XL6 and the Grand Vitara stood at 33,008 in December 2022 as against 26,982 units in the same month last year. The company sold 10,581 units of Eeco last month as against 9,185 units in December 2021. Maruti Suzuki sold 1525 Super Carry LCV in December 2022, reporting a 50% decline compared to its December 2021 sales (3015 units).

Toyota sold 10,421 cars in December 2022 as against 10,834 units in the same month last year. It reported a negative year-on-year sales growth of 3.81 percent, while the month-on-month sales declined by 11.42 per cent. In the month of November 2022, Toyota sold 11,765 units.

The company has recently announced the prices of the Innova Hycross 3-row MPV in the country. The new model is available in the price bracket of Rs 18.30 lakh to Rs 28.97 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Interested buyers can book the new Toyota Innova Hycross online or at authorized dealerships by paying a token amount of Rs 50,000.

The homegrown automaker will showcase self charging strong hybrid EVs, plug-in hybrid vehicle, FCEV, flexi-fuel hybrid EV & EVs at the 16th edition of the Indian Auto Event. The company will also showcase its Hydrogen concept technology. It is also expected to showcase the modified versions of the Urban Cruiser & the Innova Hycross MPV at the 2023 Auto Expo.
