Maruti Ertiga Might Get New Rivals From Hyundai & Toyota

The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has been ruling the compact MPV segment ever since its launch in 2012. Within 10 years of its existence, the MPV witnessed three generation changes and several updates. In order to challenge its dominance, Kia introduced the Carnes that’s currently available within the price range of Rs 9.60 lakh – Rs 17.70 lakh (all, ex-showroom). In 2023, the Maruti Ertiga will receive a tough competition from the upcoming Hyundai Stargazer and Toyota’s new C-segment MPV. One must note that there is no official word on India launch timeline of both models.

Here’re some key details of the upcoming Maruti Ertiga rivals.

Hyundai Stargazer

Hyundai Stargazer Price

Hyundai Stargazer, which is already on sale in Indonesia, is likely to make its way to India. The MPV comes with a 1.5L MPI petrol engine that’s good enough for 115bhp. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and an IVT (CVT) automatic. It’s a 6-seater MPV featuring captain seats in the second row and bench seat in the third row. The Stargazer comes equipped with the ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) along with Hyundai’s BlueLink connected car technology, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, automatic AC and wireless charging. In terms of design, the Stargazer seems inspired by the Staria. More details here…

Toyota C-Segment MPV

Toyota is reportedly working on a C-segment MPV that will be positioned against the Maruti Ertiga and Kia Carens. The model could be based on the FWD (front-wheel drive) platform and share its hybrid powertrain with the upcoming Toyota Innova Hycross. The latter is slated to make its global debut in November, followed by its India launch in early 2023. The Japanese automaker recently trademarked the ‘Toyota Taisor’ that’s rumoured to be used for an upcoming MPV or an SUV. In terms of pricing, the new Toyota C-segment MPV will sit between the Ertiga and Innova.
