Maruti Suzuki has further extended the new Celerio model lineup with the addition of the new CNG variant. Based on the VXi trim, the model has been priced at Rs 6.58 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The automaker says that the new Maruti Celerio CNG “offers optimum performance, ensuring enhanced safety, unmatched convenience, and great fuel-efficiency”. For power, the new variant uses 1.0L, 3-cylinder Dualjet petrol engine with a factory-fitted CNG kit.
The company’s new S-CNG models come with dual interdependent ECU (electronic control units) and an intelligent injection system. These vehicles are claimed to be tuned and calibrated to deliver optimum performance. The new Maruti Celerio CNG returns a maximum power of 55.9bhp at 5,300rpm and 82.1Nm of torque at 3,400rpm. It promises an impressive mileage of 35.60km/kg. The hatchback has a CNG tank capacity of 60-litres.
No other changes have been made to the Celerio CNG. It continues to measure 3695mm in length, 1655mm in width and 1555mm in height with a wheelbase of 2435mm. Similar to the regular VXi variant, the CNG version offers full wheel covers, electric adjust wing mirrors, power windows, day night rear view mirror, power steering, gear shift indicator, split folding rear seat, 12V power socket, tachometer, dual airbags, ABS, speed/impact sensing door lock and unlock, hill start assist, central locking, front seatbelt pre-tensioners, seat belt reminders and rear parking sensors.
Talking about Maruti Suzuki’s future plan, the Indo-Japanese automaker is planning to strengthen its SUV market. If reports are to be believed, the company will bring in a new mid-size SUV by Diwali 2022. The model will be developed under Suzuki and Toyota partnership and produced at Toyota’s Karnataka based facility. It will underpin Toyota’s DNGA (Daihatsu New Global Architecture) platform. Maruti’s new mid-size SUV will take on the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and MG Astor. It’s likely to measure around 4.2 meters in length and rumoured to be named Maruti Vitara.
