Mahindra XUV700, Scorpio N, Bolero To Go Electric – Confirmed

With a bullish outlook on the Indian electric vehicle (EV) segment, Mahindra & Mahindra has unveiled plans for several new products, including XUV.e8, XUV.e9, BE.05, and BE.07. These electric SUVs will be based on the Born-Electric INGLO platform and will feature “high-performance electric powertrains.” The first production model, Mahindra XUV.e8, is set to roll out by December 2024, followed by the Mahindra XUV.e9, BE.05, and BE.07 electric SUVs in April 2025, October 2025, and April 2026, respectively.

During its extravagant #Futurescape event in South Africa, the home-grown automaker also revealed that all its upcoming EVs will sport a new logo and sounds crafted by renowned composer AR Rahman. Alongside these new EV models, the company plans to electrify all its internal combustion engine (ICE) SUVs, including the Bolero, Scorpio, and XUV700.

While Mahindra’s top-selling Bolero SUV currently underpins a ladder-frame chassis, its electric iteration will be built on the INGLO monocoque platform. The Bolero EV is expected to carry a futuristic design language in line with Mahindra’s new EV SUVs. The Mahindra Scorpio EV is anticipated to draw most of its design elements from the Mahindra Global Pik Up concept that was recently unveiled in South Africa.

The carmaker has confirmed that this electric SUV will feature a “high-performance” electric powertrain, including a Valeo-sourced electric motor mounted on the rear axle in a single motor configuration. This setup is expected to deliver a maximum power of 170 kW (231 bhp) and 380 Nm of torque.

The upcoming Mahindra EVs will be equipped with advanced features, including a 16-speaker Dolby Atmos 3D surround sound system (from Sony/Harman/Kardon), three 12.3-inch 720p screens, ADAS, HUD with AR visual projection, onboard 5G connectivity, OTA updates, connected car tech, and vehicle-to-X (V2X) capabilities.
