Mahindra XUV400 has finally been launched in the country, with prices ranging between Rs 15.99 lakh and Rs 18.99 lakh (ex-showroom). At this price point, it goes up against India’s highest-selling electric four-wheeler, the Tata Nexon EV. So here we have compared both electrified SUVs to know which offers better value.

- Mahindra offers the XUV400 with two battery pack options: 34.5kWh and 39.5kWh; both claims better range when compared to the smaller and extended range versions of the Tata Nexon EV, respectively.
- Irrespective of the battery pack, the XUV400 comes with the same 150PS/310Nm front axle-mounted electric motor that is more powerful and torquier than the Nexon EV.
- The XUV400 also offers faster acceleration and higher top speed.

While the Tata Nexon EV falls into the sub-4-meter category, the XUV400 is 4.2m long. It is also slightly wider and taller than the Tata SUV. It also has bigger boot space and a longer wheelbase.
Features
When it comes to features, both SUVs are well-loaded. The key highlight includes projector headlamps with DRLs, alloy wheels, multiple driving modes, regen braking, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, connected car tech, leather seats, all-four disc brakes, electric sunroof, 60:40 split seat, height adjustable driver’s seat, a rear parking camera with sensors and much more. The Mahindra XUV400 does, however, offer up to six airbags, whereas the Nexon EV has only two.

- Soon after the launch of Mahindra XUV400, Tata Motors slashed the prices of Nexon EV by up to Rs 85,000, making it a more competitive offering.
- The smaller battery pack variant of the Mahindra XUV400 is slightly costlier than the Nexon EV Prime. But for this added premium, it gets a bigger battery pack, more range and better performance. However, XUV400’s range-topping EL variant’s prices are on par with the Nexon EV Max’s XZ+ Lux trim.

Verdict
Owing to its bigger battery pack and more features, the Mahindra XUV400 offers better value than Nexon EV, at least on paper.
