The debut of the Mahindra Thar 5-Door has been confirmed for August 15, 2024. As the model has undergone extensive testing, it has been spotted in multiple spy images and videos, revealing most of its design details and feature list. According to the latest buzz, the lifestyle off-road SUV model lineup could be offered in 3 or 4 variants, with the top-end variants featuring exclusive features such as 4X4 capabilities and a sunroof.
Expectations include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, a digital instrument cluster, a 9-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, auto-dimming IRVM, ventilated front seats with electric adjustment, rear lamps for rear seat passengers, and automatic climate control with rear AC vents.
Additionally, Mahindra might enhance its safety quotient with ADAS tech and 6 airbags, along with the standard kit including ABS with EBD, traction control, electronic stability program, hill hold, and hill descent assist. The forthcoming Mahindra Thar 5-door SUV is expected to possess serious off-road capabilities with a suspension setup similar to the Scorpio N’s and frequency-dependent dampers, improving rigidity around corners. When it comes to engine, the 5-door Thar is likely to use the 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L turbo diesel engines borrowed from the Scorpio N. The gasoline motor generates a top power of 203bhp and 370Nm of torque with a manual gearbox, and 380Nm of torque with an automatic transmission. The oil burner is expected to produce 130bhp with 300Nm and 138bhp with 370Nm (MT)/400Nm (AT). Lower variants will come with the 2WD setup, while 4WD will be reserved for higher trims.
