Mahindra & Mahindra introduced the all-new Scorpio N in June and the updated Scorpio Classic in August, 2022. The SUV has been generating volume for the carmaker since its market arrival. In October 2022, the company managed to sell 7,438 units of the Scorpio against 3,304 units in the same duration last year. It witnessed YoY sales growth of 125 percent. In September 2022, the Scorpio SUV clocked 9,536 units as opposed to 2,588 units in the same month previous year. It recorded YoY growth of 268 percent.
Last month (October 2022), the Mahindra Bolero regained the title of the brand’s top-selling SUV with total sales of 8,772 units. With total sales of 6,282 units, the Mahindra XUV300 became the third best-selling SUV from the home-grown automaker.
The Mahindra Scorpio N has been offered with the 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L diesel engine options. The turbo petrol motor delivers a claimed power of 203bhp and 370Nm of torque with manual gearbox and 380Nm with automatic transmission. The oil burner pushes out a peak power of 132bhp with 300Nm and 175bhp with 370Nm (MT)/400Nm (AT). The SUV offers three on-road drive modes, namely, Zip, Zap and Zoom. Talking about the Mahindra Scorpio Classic, the SUV model lineup can be had with two variants – S and S11. While the base model costs Rs 11.99 lakh, the top-end variant has been priced at Rs 15.49 lakh. All aforementioned prices are ex-showroom. For power, the new Scorpio Classic uses the updated 2.2L turbo Gen 2 mHawk diesel engine. The motor dishes out a maximum power of 132bhp and 300Nm of torque. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual gearbox. It comes with the RWD (rear-wheel drive) system. The Scorpio Classic’s new engine is said to be 55kg lighter than before. It returns a claimed mileage of 14 percent.
