Mahindra Scorpio N Pickup Truck Teased – What to Expect?

Mahindra & Mahindra is generating excitement with its upcoming ‘Global Pik Up Vision’ concept, scheduled to debut in South Africa on 15th August 2023. Though the automaker has kept details under wraps, it is likely to be the Mahindra Scorpio N pickup, codenamed Z121. The pickup is expected to showcase a striking front grille and vertically stacked taillamps, along with lifestyle pickup vibes displayed through black alloy wheels with off-road tires, an electric sunroof, and a spare wheel mounted in the bed.

To accommodate a larger load bed, the new Mahindra Scorpio N pickup truck will feature a longer wheelbase compared to its SUV counterpart. While information about its interior remains unknown at this point, the pickup could come in single and double-cab body styles with a tray-back bed option.

It is anticipated that the new Scorpio N pickup will share powertrains with its SUV counterpart. The SUV version offers 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L diesel engines, producing power outputs of 203bhp/370Nm (MT) and 380Nm (AT), and 132bhp/300Nm and 175bhp/370Nm (MT)/400Nm (AT), respectively. Both manual and automatic gearboxes are likely to be available, along with the option of 2WD or 4WD drivetrain systems.

When launched, the production version of the new Mahindra Scorpio N pickup could compete against the Toyota Hilux and Isuzu V-Cross. Though the launch timeline and details have not been officially disclosed, it is expected to arrive sometime in 2025.

In addition to the pickup, Mahindra is also planning to expand its electric product portfolio over the next 4-5 years. The new Mahindra electric SUVs will fall under two sub-brands – XUV (XUV.e8, XUV.e9) and BE (BE.05, BE.07, and BE.09). The Mahindra XUVe.8, the electric version of the XUV700 SUV, is expected to be the first production EV to hit showrooms in December 2024. The first BE model is scheduled to arrive in October 2025, showcasing the brand’s commitment to electric mobility.
