Lexus is the only luxury car manufacturer participated in the outgoing 2023 Auto Expo. The company has showcased the fifth generation Lexus RX, which comes with a completely new design language over the fourth-gen model. Official bookings for the model have been commenced, while its deliveries will start in April 2023. It is currently the best-selling Lexus globally, which is now sleeker, bigger and sportier in its new avatar.
The fifth generation Lexus RX has a more upright stance, featuring an all-new spindle grille, sharper full LED headlamps. It comes with a coupe-like rear quarter and full LED tail-lamps. The coupe-like roofline blends into a steeply-raked rear windscreen. It has sleek LED tail-lights with a light bar in the center.
The new Lexus RX is based on the TNGA-K platform. It has longer wheelbase and weighs 90kg less than the fourth generation model. The wheelbase has been increased by 60mm and the roofline has been reduced by 10mm. The signature black rear pillar is now more three-dimensional in appearance, while the side has sweeping character line and large 21-inch wheels.
Similar to the new NX, the new Lexus RX comes fitted with a larger 14-inch touchscreen infotainment unit. It comes with vegan leather instead of the usual leather upholstery. In the cockpit, the multimedia screen, MID, single-dial meter, centralised gauges and HUD are grouped so their content can be read with minimal eye and head movement. It comes with ‘Lexus Mood Selector’ feature that allows occupants to tailor the RX’s ambient lighting from a palette of 64 colours and 14 bespoke themes.
The Lexus RX come standard with a new 21-speaker Mark Levinson Premium Surround Sound audio. It has Digital Panoramic View Monitor that provides a live 360 degree view around and pre-recorded view under the car from cameras. It also comes with Advanced Park system, which helps park using automated control of the steering shift operation and braking. It also comes with a range of ADAS features like lane change assistance, Pre-Collision System with Active steering assist, Proactive Driving Assist, lane trace assist, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, etc.
In India, the Lexus RX will be offered in 350h and 500h F Sport variants, featuring a 247bhp, 2.5-litre petrol-hybrid and 361bhp, a 2.4-litre turbo-petrol engine respectively.
