Kia EV9 SUV In its Production Avatar; Global Debut In Late 2023

Kia EV9, the brand’s flagship all-electric SUV, made its public appearance in India at this year’s Auto Expo. The model was showcased in its concept avatar. Now, the company has started testing its production ready model in Santiago. The electric SUV is expected to make its global debut towards the end of 2023. One must note that the company has no plans for its India launch. The spotted model was painted in bright Blue colour scheme featuring Kia’s signature ‘Tiger Nose’ grille, a Z-shaped headlamp cluster and a blanked-out panel with LED light modules. The new Kia electric SUV carries upright stance along with a large glasshouse with a sharp kink behind the C-pillar. You can also notice flared wheel arches, alloy wheels, black ORVMs and roof rails, vertical LED taillamps, a pronounced rear bumper and a rear spoiler. The EV9 underpins the E-GMP (Electric Global Modular Platform) and measures 4929mm in length, 2055mm in width and 1790mm in height. It has a 3,100mm long wheelbase.

Interior details of the production-ready Kia EV9 are still under wraps. Though, it’s likely to be similar to its concept. The concept version has minimalistic dashboard with integrated twin-screen infotainment setup and spoke-less flat bottom steering wheel. There were no physical controls. The EV comes with a three-row seats arrangement with completely foldable middle row seats. Interestingly, the first row of seats can be swiveled around to create a lounge-type space. On the feature front, the new Kia electric SUV could be packed with autonomous driving features, feature-on-demand (FOD), connected car tech, over-the-air sport update support and more.

The Kia EV9 concept was packed with a 77.4kWh battery pack. Though, its power figures and range details are not available. Its production-ready version is likely to come with a dual motor, 4WD (four-wheel drive) setup. The entry-level variant might get a single motor delivering power to the rear axle.
