Kia Carens 7-Seater UV To Debut Today; Rear Design Leaked

UPDATE – Kia Carens 6/7-seater UV has been unveiled at an event in Delhi.

The much-awaited Kia Carens 7-seater utility vehicle is all set to make global debut in India today (16th December 2021). The new model will be a three-row utility vehicle based on the Seltos’ platform that’s slated to launch in early 2022. It will share its platform, design elements, features and engines with the Seltos SUV. If reports are to be believed, the new model will be offered in multiple variants – L, LX, EX, EX+, TX and TX+.

The new Kia Carens is likely to be offered in 6-and 7-seat layouts with former having captain seats in the second row. The new model is said to carry the brand’s “United Opposites” design philosophy. Ahead of its official unveiling, the rear design details of the three-row vehicle have been revealed online. It features LED taillight, an integrated rear spoiler with a high-mounted stop lamp, a tail-gate mounted license plate recess and a raked rear windshield.

Upfront, the new Kia Carens has twin headlamp setup with slim LED DRLs on top and main headlamp positioned below the slim units. It sports Kia’s signature ‘Tiger Nose Design’, a flat bonnet design with an upright nose, and a sporty front bumper. The new model has a flatter roofline to maximize interior space. The window area appears larger to give airy feel. It gets a uniquely styled tail-lights, which will have LED inserts. There is a light-bar that connects the two taillights. The vehicle gets chunky rear bumper and two faux silver bits that again give it a SUV-ish feel.

The new Carens UV will come with all-new interior, featuring a larger dashboard. Its higher variants will offer a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with connectivity features. The latest spy images also confirmed that the lower variants will get an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit. It will have fully digital instrument console and Seltos-sourced multi-functional steering wheel. The new Carens will come with high-end features such as automatic AC with rear AC vents, sunroof, powered driver seat, powered ORVMs, wireless charging and others.

The Kia Carens is reportedly to be powered by a 1.4-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that produces 138bhp of power and 250Nm of torque. The new model could also receive the 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel and 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine. While the former is good for 113bhp and 250Nm of torque, the NA petrol engine produces 113bhp and 244Nm of torque.
