Jeep’s Most Affordable SUV India Launch In 2022 – Sonet, Venue Rival

The subcompact SUV is one of the fastest growing and crowded segments of the auto industry. In order to tap the market, car manufactures like Jeep and MG are planning to foray into the sub-4 meter SUV space. The American SUV maker is ready to launch the Jeep Meridian 7-seater SUV in early 2022, which will be followed by a subcompact SUV. Official name and details of the product are yet to be revealed.

Reports suggest that the new Jeep compact SUV will be built on the Groupe PSA’s CMP (Common Modular Platform), which is developed with over 90 percent locally sourced components. The same architecture will underpin the new Citroen C3 hatchback that’s due for early 2022. Under the hood, the SUV will employ the 1.2L turbo petrol engine that will deliver power close to 100bhp.

Rumour has it that Jeep’s small SUV will be the first vehicle in its segment to offer AWD (all-wheel drive) system. It might come as standard fitment across the model lineup.  Design and feature details of the new Jeep compact SUV are still under the wraps. It’s likely to carry the brand’s signature 7-slat grille, LED headlamps with LED DRLs, sporty black cladding, alloy wheels and LED taillamps.

The new Jeep compact SUV will be the most affordable SUV from the American automaker in the country. As mentioned above, the model will underpin the CMP platform that will help the carmaker achieve competitive pricing. Its prices are estimated to start around Rs 10 lakh for the entry-level variant and go up to Rs 13 lakh for the top-end model. It will also be the smallest Jeep SUV in India. Though, its dimension figures are unavailable for now. Here, the new Jeep small SUV will lock horns against cars like Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV300 and Tata Nexon.
