March 2021 has been a rewarding month for most of the car manufacturers in India. The South Korean carmakers, Hyundai Motor and Kia Motor recorded sales growth of 100% and 122% respectively. Hyundai India managed to sell a total of 52,600 units as opposed to 26,300 units of March 2020. However, the company’s market share declined from 18.7% to 16.4%. Kia Motor India, on the other hand, retailed a total of 19, 100 units recording a Year-on-Year growth of 122.53%. In March 2020, the carmaker sold 8,583 units.
Both carmakers aim to expand their Indian product portfolio in the next couple of years. Hyundai is all set to unveil the new Alcazar 7-seater SUV on 6th April 2021, followed by its launch. Here, it will rival the cars like Mahindra XUV500 and MG Hector Plus. The Hyundai Alcazar is essentially the bigger version of the Creta with a few cosmetic upgrades and extra goodies.
If reports are to be believed, Hyundai’s three-row SUV will be offered with 143bhp, 2.0L petrol and 113bhp, 1.5L diesel engines. There might also be a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox. The Alcazar could be packed with ADAS (advanced driver assistance system), a 360 degree camera, automatic climate control and BlueLink connected car features.
Kia Motor India is gearing up to launch a new model that’s likely to be the Kia Seltos Gravity Edition. Prices and details of the new model are slated to announce on 27th April 2021. Just so you know, the Seltos Gravity Edition was introduced in the South Korean market last year.
The 2021 Kia Seltos Gravity has a bespoke, chromed front grille with 3-dimensional design elements, newly designed dual-tone 18-inch machined alloy wheels and silver finish to the ORVMs, door garnish and the rear skid plate. A few sportier bits have been added to its interior as well.
