Hyundai Exter Electric SUV (Punch EV Rival) Caught Testing

Hyundai had launched the Casper based Exter micro SUV in the Indian market in 2023. This entry-level SUV is positioned against the likes of the Tata Punch and the Citroen C3. The Korean automaker is also preparing a new Creta-sized electric SUV, which is scheduled to be introduced by the end of this year. However, the company is also working on an affordable entry-level electric vehicle that has recently been caught testing in Europe.

The new electric model is based on the Hyundai Casper micro SUV on sale in the South Korea. However, the spotted model appears more identical to the Exter on sale in India. This small electric SUV is scheduled to be launched in the Europe in the first half of 2025, while debut could take place by the end of 2024.

It is also likely to arrive in our market in near future and will rival the likes of the Tata Punch EV and the Citroen eC3. The new entry-level SUV will be introduced in several emerging markets including India and select European nations.

The spotted model was heavily covered, revealing limited information. The front has an additional lighting system, which is added to offer a better visibility in adverse weather conditions. Despite heavy camouflage, the battery of the electric propulsion system is clearly visible from sides and rear. The new Exter electric SUV is based on the K1 platform, which also underpins the Grand i10, Exter and the Casper ICE.

The new Hyundai Exter EV is expected to be offered with two battery options. The larger battery version is expected to offer a range of up to 400 kilometers on a single charge. We expect the new Hyundai Exter based electric SUV to arrive in our market sometime in 2025-26.
