Hyundai Creta EV Spied With Zero Camouflage

Hyundai has announced to introduce multiple new EVs in our market before the end of 2028. The company has recently introduced the Ioniq 5, which is based on the e-GMP platform. This platform based more electric vehicles will be introduced in our market. However, Hyundai is also developing multiple EVs on existing ICE-powered vehicles. The Hyundai Creta based electric is also under development, which will be positioned against the MG ZS EV. Likely to be launched in 2025, the Hyundai Creta EV has been spotted testing on Chennai-Bangalore Expressway with zero camouflage.

Not just the Creta EV, Hyundai is reportedly developing electric versions of the Grand i10 Nios and the upcoming Exter micro SUV. Moreover, Hyundai’s global mini SUV, Casper will also receive an electric derivative. The Hyundai Creta EV will be launched first in our market, followed by an electric mini SUV. The Team-BHP member MAS mentioned, “Saw the zero-camouflaged Creta Electric on Chennai Bangalore Expressway Yesterday. No Exhaust, No radiator. The driver was driving pretty fast.”

He further stated that both the bumpers were of a different shade of silver when compared to the body. The Hyundai Creta EV test mule looks largely identical to the existing Creta. It is expected that the styling will be revised at the time of the launch. It is expected to source the battery pack and electric motor from the Kona EV. The latter comes fitted with a 100kW permanent magnet synchronous motor that offers 136bhp and 359Nm of torque. The electric motor draws power from a 39.2kWh lithium-ion battery pack and is claimed to offer an ARAI-certified range of 452km.

The new Hyundai Creta EV is expected to be unveiled at the 2025 Auto Expo, while the series production is likely to commence by the end of 2024. The new model will rival the MG ZS EV and the upcoming Tata Curvv EV and the Maruti Suzuki YY8 EV. The new EV is expected to be produced at the Chennai-based plant. The company aims to produce around 20,000 – 25,000 units of the electric Creta on annual basis.
